The Bear Pit 2008 - Three Counties Show
7Y Managing Director Richard Jackson recently took on the role as judge in the 'Bear Pit' competition at last months Three Counties Show. The 'Bear Pit' modelled on televisions Dragons Den took the form of a business competition where five young businesses pitched to win £1,000 in prize money by presenting information about their businesses to the panel of judges. Richard's co-judges were Peter Pawsey, Chairman of Advantage West Midlands Rural Regeneration Zone and David Ledbury, Business Link West Midlands Advisor.
The winner was Adam Evans of SHIFT (Social Healing for Integrated Farm Therapy) who along with his wife Sarah, offers the unique opportunity of a safe and therapeutic learning experience where clients can develop invaluable life skills. The business is based at Coppice Farm, St Weonards, Herefordshire where the farm is used as a centre to work with offenders, children who are currently in care and searching for a direction in life, and also local secondary schools.
SHIFT would like to spend their prize money on developing their work with persistent re-offenders and progress with the establishment of an exit strategy to rehabilitate offenders back into working society.
