Fuel Efficiency Awareness Training (FEAT)

The FEAT course (the first of its kind in the country), has been designed for those involved in agriculture who want to achieve maximum performance from their agricultural machines. Developed out of the road haulage industry, two sessions are offered. The morning session concentrates on the basics of tractor operation, set up and maintenance, ballast, tyres and driving styles. The afternoon session is for those who wish to measure performance, understand whole farm performance, and to analyse and interpret these results.

Emphasis is placed on understanding the basic dynamics of power, weight, torque and hydraulics. Candidates will also learn to measure performance of fuel used and how this affects farm performance.

We will look at how field size effects fuel consumption (field efficiency), the width of the implement and the size of the implement. Different scenarios will be offered and participants will be encouraged to discuss how the tractor should be operated to achieve maximum efficiency.

Candidates of all ages and capabilities will leave with skills and ideas that can implemented immediately.
